AI-Literate project presents collaborative AI literacy approaches at the Media & Learning Conference 2026, Leuven, 17-18 Jun

The Erasmus+ funded AI-Literate project will be featured at the upcoming Media & Learning Conference with two presentations exploring different dimensions of AI literacy and higher education.

On the first day of the conference, Lucia Mesquita from Lusófona University will present in the session “Impact of AI on institutional planning when it comes to educational media production and support”. Her presentation, “Beyond the Tool: Mapping Evidence-Based and Responsible AI Technology Use in Higher Education”, will introduce the empirical mapping phase of the AI-Literate project, examining how generative AI technologies are currently adopted, governed, and understood in higher education across five European countries. The session will present a transferable analytical framework for assessing AI technologies in relation to ethics, AI literacy, disinformation, equity, and learning quality, while also highlighting emerging patterns and challenges in AI adoption across Europe.

On the second day, Nicola Bruno from Dataninja and Stefano Moriggi from University of Modena and Reggio Emilia will present in the session “AI-driven co-creation”. Their presentation, “Co-Designing AI Literacy: A European Multi-Partner Approach to Creating a Blended Learning Programme on GenAI and Disinformation”, will explore how educators from five European countries are collaboratively designing AI literacy courses that help students critically engage with AI-generated content, disinformation, and synthetic media. The presentation will also share practical approaches to cross-institutional course co-design, including strategies for integrating verification methodologies, research findings, and collaborative workflows into AI literacy education.

Together, these sessions highlight the need for responsible, collaborative, and evidence-based approaches to AI literacy in higher education.
